This is our Gallery series of Persephone Goddesses titled Magical Worlds. This version depicts the Goddess rising from the underworld into a magical world of spring. In our other version she descends into the flames of the underworld in the vibrant hues of fire and autumn (link). The Magical Worlds versions are build upon our two more traditional versions that you can see here (link)
In the Gallery series, each design is unique. You can select your favourite variation and/or message us when you order if you'd like something custom. If you would like we can also share a photo to review/comment prior to shipping, please let us know.
In this variation, she is sculpted over shrinking flames and positioned amongst spring flowers and trees which are all done by hand after the base model is created. Each Goddess is unique but carefully matched by finish and floral design OR you can tell us a little more about your own arbour and flower colour preferences (maybes based on your sacred space or grove) and we will make one just for you!
In Greek mythology the changing of seasons is told through the story of Persephone and Demeter where Persephone (Goddess of Spring) is abducted by Hades and taken to the underworld to become the Queen. Meanwhile her Mother Demeter (Goddess of Agriculture) searches for her in anguish and her sorrow brings on endless winter. As the people are starving Zeus intervenes and negotiates with Hades so that Persephone is allowed to leave the underworld for 6 months of the year. So every spring when she returns it brings Demeter great joy and the earth come back to life until her descent in autumn.
At the spring equinox we give thanks for the growing warmth of the sun and the awakening of Mother Earth as the wheel of the year continues to turn.
Product Details: Our version of Persephone stands 13 cm/5" high, 10 cm/4" wide, 6 cm/2.5" deep and weighs 40 gr/1.4 oz.
The core model of Persephone and her base is hand-finished in a proprietary process using earth tones and bronzing materials to give her a unique and aged patina. Because they are hand finished, each one will vary slightly in terms of final shade and sheen.
All of our products are designed and individually 3D printed here in our home studio using a bio-safe, non-toxic, vegetable, wood fibre or sugar-cane based PLA. We then hand-finish each piece, usually smoothing and sanding them using a natural wood fibre material and then acrylic paints or glazes. The cured finishes are non-toxic but the metallic finishes do have the actual metals in them. This is a clean and local process and our materials are selected from those made in Canada or the USA. We are 100% NOT “Made in China” and take some pride in that. Through careful research and testing, we have found a great way to get around the toxic resin and moulding processes used in most of the statues on the market.
