Chango, Santerian God of Thunder and Lightning
We're excited to finally launch Yemaya and Chango, two Santerian Orishas that are very dear to our hearts and a foundational part of my Ritual.
Chango God of Thunder and Lightning is one of the most popular Orishas. Chango represents power in general and his double-edged sword represents the fact that power can both create and destroy. Legend says that Yemaya raise Chango but also later in life they did not recognize one another a became lovers.
Santeria originates in Nigeria with the Yoruba people, many of whom we brought to the New World as slaves. Despite the appearance of catholic worship in places like Cuba and Brazil Santeria is hidden behind the icons of Christianity and is still secretly worshiped to this day. In fact, in Cuba Yemaya is syncretized with the Lady of Regla or the black Madonna of the catholic faith.
Product Details: Chango stands around 7"/18 cm high, and weighs around 1.2oz/6g
All of our products are designed and individually 3D printed here in our home studio using a bio-safe, non-toxic, vegetable, wood fibre or s PLA. We then hand-finish each piece, usually smoothing and sanding them using a natural wood fibre material and then acrylic paints or glazes. The cured finishes are non-toxic but the metallic finishes do have the actual metals in them. This is a clean and local process and our materials are selected from those made in Canada or the USA. We are 100% NOT “Made in China” and take some pride in that. Through careful research and testing, we have found a great way to get around the toxic resin and moulding processes used in most of the statues on the market.
Thanks so much for looking at our Chango. If you have any special colour or size requests, please drop us a line.
